Animal Reiki, Cheshire
a love letter
to gordon
I never set out to become an Animal Reiki practitioner. Like so much of my healing journey, it found me — or rather, Gordon found his way to it first.
Studying Reiki was always for myself. A way to find Carrie again, to come home to who I truly was. After completing my First Degree, I was deep in my own healing when I arrived home one evening to find Gordon doing what he always did — bouncing around, full of joy, full of life.
I sat on the floor. He came and settled close beside me. And without thinking, without planning, I placed my hands on his chest.
From across the room, my husband Raj looked up. "You're doing it, aren't you?"
"Doing what?" I replied. "That Reiki thing."
"Doing what?" I replied.
"That Reiki thing."

He was right. And beautiful little Gordon was already receiving it.
From that evening on, Gordon began to ask for treatments. He would sit close, leaning in, offering different parts of his body to the energy — as if he knew exactly what he needed and trusted completely that it was there for him.
Gordon had his own anxieties and worries about the world. With Reiki, those anxieties reduced so dramatically. He was calmer, softer, more at ease in himself. I watched it happen, session by session.
When Gordon and Toucan — my two soul pups — became palliative, it was to Reiki I turned. In those sacred, heartbreaking months when I felt so powerless to help them, Reiki was the one gift I could give. The one way I could be present, loving, and useful all at once.
Studying Animal Reiki formally was always going to happen. It took a year — a year I held the intention quietly, letting it settle. But when I came to it, I came to it with Gordon and Toucan in my heart. It was, and remains, a beautiful tribute to them both.
If your animal companion is anxious, unsettled, unwell, or simply in need of deep rest, I would be honoured to offer them what Gordon first showed me was possible — the quiet, powerful language of energy and love.
The Consultation
Every animal Reiki journey begins with a gentle conversation. Your initial consultation takes place onsite — whether that's in the comfort of your home or at the stable, paddock, or sanctuary where your animal lives — giving them the security of their familiar surroundings. We will talk through your animal's history, temperament, and any areas of concern, allowing me to tailor every session to their unique needs. This is also a beautiful opportunity for your animal to simply meet my energy, in their own time and on their own terms. To help cover travel time and vehicle costs, the following mileage rates apply: Within 1 mile: No travel charge 2–15 miles: 45p per mile Mileage is calculated based on the distance from my base to your location. I will always confirm any travel cost with you before your appointment is booked, so there are no surprises. A mileage charge plus remaining balance is payable on the day.
